Does the monster get destroyed if the battle damage go to zero?

Yes it will still be destroyed even the battle damage is zero because the effect only involves the damage and not NEGATING the atk.
For example your opponents Blue Eyes White Dragon attacks your Darkmagician. During damage calculation you can activate Kuriboh or Waboku. The damage will be zero but Darkmagician would still be destroyed.

∙ 9y agoIt depends on the monster, but usually yes. Really, only if the monster specifically says the player takes no battle damage either, will the player be safe.
Black Potan for example cannot be destroyed by battle if you control a Tuner monster. It has an ATK of 200, so if attacked by a monster with 2000ATK, then like normal, the controlling player will take 1800 battle damage. The only difference here is that Black Potan is not destroyed by battling with a stronger monster.
This also applies with Obnoxious Celtic Guard

Yes, if you control a monster in defense mode and it is changed to attack mode during the Battle Phase by a card effect, it can attack.
