Easily. Not for districts 1, 2 and 3 who are wealthy but definitely for the rest of the districts, 4-12. Katniss (Main character) lives with her little sister and her mum in district 12, a very poor place. Katniss and her best friend Gale secretly sneek out of their district to hunt for food for their families everyday. Then they creep back to their homes and either sells their kill to some people at "The hob" an illegal trading place or keep it and eat it with her families. Besides food, they struggle for education, shelter and clothing. With Katnniss' dad dead from a mining incident, her and her mother are the only ones supplying for her family. Now, i don't know much about the great depression, but i know a lot about The Hunger Games. So basing off the title "The great depression" i'm hoping that this helped :)
