How can Dr. Robotnik OR Eggman afford to buy all that stuff in order to defeat Sonic?

Well... Dr. Robotnik comes from a VERY wealthy family. His male ancestors were once scientists as well. These "smart" genes run in the family so Ivo got his degree at a very young age by skipping many grades because of his intelligence.

In Japan, he was always called Eggman, and when it was ported to America, he was called Robotnik. Then, in Sonic Adventure, in an early cutscene, Sonic says "Look!
