Alfred the great was a viking. Sad Story even though he was great and a viking but whatever... Anyways , Alfred became the King of Wessex, the most powerful small Anglo-Saxon kingdoms at that time. During his rule there was great fear in the land. His first viking attack in England was in 793. A fleet of ships raided the monastery of Lindisfarne. Monks were killed, altar vessels stolen, and beautifully illustrated manuscripts were destroyed . He ruled also other parts in Europe.
