During flying class, Neville Longbottom falls from his broomstick and breaks his wrist. Madam Pomfrey takes him to the hospital wing with strict instructions that nobody is to fly. When he fell, Neville dropped his remembrall. Draco Malfoy picks this up and makes fun of him. Harry then tells him to give it back, but Draco gets on his broom and makes Harry chase him.
Discovering that Harry is a natural flier, Draco throws the remembrall and lands while Harry chases after it. Professor McGonagall witnesses this and takes him to Oliver Wood (the captain of the team). She also arranges for special permission for him to play and own a broomstick.
