My personal belief is a combination of things. When you extremely attractive as a child, its hard to adjust aging into a less attractive, less desirable man. I think Johnathan was going through this in a big way, and it depressed him.

I also think he knew his career was only sustainable in the 90's and he would not find much work ever again. Again extremely depressing.

Tackling both of these issues probably engulfed his mind everyday for years, im guessing at least 5+ years, probably more like 7 or 8+. He obviously knew that he wanted to die, and he planned it in advance, therefore, we know for a fact he was thinking about it a lot.

Johnathan was a real sweetheart, and i dont think anyone understood him that well, and how much he wanted to offer but felt he couldn't. I know that he is at peace, and i know deep down that if he had the same chance again, he would still kill himself. He was suffering deeply, and i think he was really brave.

I would like to add, having myself had depressive like symptoms for decades, that not only do we do have technologies that can reverse the aging process (not turn a 40 year old into a 14 year old) but so that one can have a more youthful appearance and live longer, and many technologies including hormones and numerous detoxification methods and complex high dose nutritional and herbal supplements that can combat depression by supporting natural biochemistry. Sometimes medication is also helpful on top of that. And that sort of change in brain chemistry could bring about a different outlook. Perhaps Johnathan Brandis could have had more strength to hold out for a new sort of role as a famous adult actor. Johnathan's spirit is still strong with us. We will always remember him. Let us try to prevent this in the future by aggressively supporting such gifted people.
