How did Lily Evans die?

Harry had been told that they died in a car crash, but this was to keep the truth from him. His parents had been betrayed by Peter Pettigrew, who sold them to Voldemort. Before, he had not been able to find them because a fidelious charm had been cast upon their house. But Lily and James had changed their secret keeper at the last minute from Sirius to Peter, who was then able to give information on their whereabouts to Voldemort. He cast the killing curse on James first, who tried to hold him off so that Lily could escape. But Voldemort then told her that he would spare her life if she gave him Harry. But she would not give him up and that was the reason that Harry survived the curse.

A prophecy decreed that a boy born at the end of July would be the one to destroy Voldemort. Believing this was Harry, he decided to kill him. James and Lily just got in the way and Voldemort didn't care wither they lived or died, their death just meant there were two less people fighting against him.

The same as in the book- after Peter Pettigrew told Voldemort their location, breaking the Fidelius Charm, Voldemort goes to their house on Halloween night and kills them using Avada Kedavra. James was killed first (attempting to fight Voldemort in order for Lily and Harry to have time to get away), and Lily was killed second, in front of Harry's crib. She had the chance to step away and save herself, but she chose to save Harry instead.
