In the movie "Pretty Woman", Richard Gere plays an emotionally damages very rich business man who takes his lawyer's Lotus to escape a party he doesn't want to be at. When he gets lost trying to find his hotel, he pulls over on Sunset Blvd and meets Vivian "a hooker" Vivian agrees to show him how to get to his hotel and ends up driving the Lotus for him, as he doesn't really know how. He takes her up in his hotel to "talk" and the Cinderella type story goes on from there.

∙ 14y agoI always thought it was Sunset Boulevard. But the imdb entry for the movie (see the Related Link) alternately refers to the place where he picks her up as "Sunset Boulevard" and "Hollywood Boulevard," which I just don't understand. Perhaps he picked her up at the intersection of Sunset and Hollywood, or perhaps it's just a typo.

Karen Allen, Molly Ringwald, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly, Meg Ryan, Mary Steenburgen, Michelle Pfeiffer and Daryl Hannah were offered the role of Prostitute Vivian, but for a whole slew of reasons, ranging from ' a sexist script' to 'an unfitting role' they turned it down.
In the end, 22 year old Julia Roberts took the risk, and rose to instant stardom after the movie was released and turned out to be a blockbuster.
