Back in Red, Blue and Yellow version there was a glitch you could take advantage of that allowed the player to pass the level 30 ghost without having to identify it using the Silph Scope by using a PokeDoll during the battle. In Firered and Leafgreen that glitch has been taken out so you will need the Silph Scope.

∙ 11y agoget rid of team rocket in celadon city at the game corner. after that you would have obtained silph scope. after that battle the ghost in the pokemon tower where it would reveal its true form as a marowak. and no, it cannot be caught
