Basically, in the Harry Potter novels, you become a Slytherin if the Sorting Hat chooses you for Slytherin. The same applies to any of the other three houses. And the Sorting Hat will sort you into the houses, based at least in part on your qualities.

∙ 10y agoPure-bloods are those born from a blood line soley made up of pure-blood witches and wizards. This means there are no muggle or half-bloods in their line. Their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great grandparents etc were all pure-bloods.
