Even due to common belief you DO NOT need a super rod! Every time you meet a Magikarp, Or any wild Pokemon for that matter, there is a 1/8012 chance of it being shiny (specially colored or tinted).

∙ 12y agowell i havent seen one in the wild, (i have black) but on marvelous bridge, there is a guy who will sell you a female magikarp (lvl 5) and it will evolve into a gryrados at lvl 20. mine is lvl 26. im too lazy to raise it on my own. lol.
