To catch a Legandary Pokemon is no different than catching a regular Pokemon although it is a lot harder. I would suggest that the first thing you do is save right in front of the Pokemon you are trying to catch (I believe that all the original legendaries from Gen 1 are standing still somewhere). You should also bring like 15 Ultra Balls or something and just beat them until their health bar is as close to empty as possible (and paralyze them if you can). Then you just throw Ultra Balls until you got them. And if it doesn't work you can always just restart your Gameboy or use a savestate if you are playing on an emulator.
