How do you defeat Clair in Pokemon soul silver?

You have to go to Blackthorn City.

Once you're in there you need strength to move boulders into the black holes where there is ice. Just push boulders in so you can go into the ladder and you should get a pathway to get to Clair

The above is to get through the Ice Passage but if you are referring to the inside of the gym you must climb the ladder just after the first opponent and once you are up there you have to push the boulders into holes to get a path across the lava if done correctly you only need to battle three people before taking on Clair.

edit: you will have to go to goldenrod city after you get icywind from the 7th gym and go to the tower before going to blackthorn city

Clair is a dragon-type gym leader. So if she is a dragon type u have to have good Pokemon that are effected to dragon types. Electric is the best to use. If you don't have an electric then your just going to have to level up. now if your mentioning what do do after, U need to go to the cave around back behind the gym. Any Pokemon with a stong, electric-type move to take out her Gyarados quickly, then mainly ice-type or dragon-type moves to take out her hoard of dragon-type Pokemon.

Here's her line-up and their weaknesses:

Gyarados - Electric (x4), Rock (x2)

Kingdra - Dragon (x2)

Dragonair (two of them) - Dragon (x2), Ice (x2)

The x4 and x2 are the multipliers for the amount of damaged inflicted. Good luck!

First make sure you defeated the elite four, I think beat all eight kanto gym leaders, and beat your rival in Mt. moon. After you do those, go to blackthorn city and go to the dragon's den. Just go straight, until you hit the house. On your left your rival will be waiting then Clair and lance will battle you. Hope this helps!
