How do you defeat iblis in Sonic the Hedgehog?

There are two phases. In phase one, fill up Shadow's gauge with the floating shadows. Mephiles actually tells you it doesnt matter who many of them you defeat. He is lying. When you fill up the gauge press the chaos button and, since Mephiles is in your shadow, he can't be touched until you do this. He will come out of your shadow and will try to attack. When the gauge is empty, he will go back into your shadow. Repeat till he is defeated.

In phase two, strike the Mephiles clones to fill your gauge. More clones and the actual mephiles will appear when the gauge is full. Avoid the attacks he throws at you while he hides behind his clones. Run around the screen to the back of mephiles and strike him. Avoid the clones who will try to attack you. Mephiles will then make a giant pyramid out of his clones. Use the homing attack to reach the top and strike Mephiles. If you fall down without reaching Mephiles, you will have to wait for your next chance. Repeat striking mephiles until he is defeated.

It's called the E.G.G. Station Zone, and the only way to beat it is by defeating bosses from previous zones in the game. Once you defeat the four bosses from before, you have one more Eggman Machine to destroy. It's the same final boss from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and you attack it the same way. (Now we can tell that Eggman likes recycling robots.) There is only one difference: the machine malfunctions after a while. If you try to attack it, you will receive damage from the electricity. The only way to attack him is by waiting for him to launch his arms, and when it comes down, attack his arm and it will hit him and keep him stunned for a while. That's your chance to attack him. After you hit him a bunch of times, he'll launch up one final time to break the ground under you. Just as he is about to hit the ground, jump and attack him one last time. By then, Sonic will have escaped the E.G.G. Station and the world will be once again safe from Eggman.

When the battle begins, the player must collect Rings and fast. There are four lines of Rings in the arena: two in the air near the center of the platform and two on the extreme edges. While getting the Rings, the player must use their PK to pick up the nearby debris and start hurling it at Iblis. The monster has a significant amount of armor made out of cooled molten earth. However, the armor falls away as repeated attacks are launched on Iblis, exposing its pure flame interior. To make an accurate volley, Silver must be pointed directly at Iblis in order to fling the debris at the beast. Iblis will raise its arms from time to time, blocking his face. When Iblis is guarding itself, the player must not waste time throwing any debris at it. The player must watch for when Iblis raises all four arms. As when Iblis exposes its chest, a torrent of molten rock explodes forth, peppering the platform. Some of the fireballs actually remain on the ledge, though, which can be picked up with PK and fling back at the beast. When Iblis lowers its upper arms into the lava, Iblis will pick up a skyscraper. The monster raises the building high above the platform before bringing it down, casting a large shadow. The player must then get out of the shadow to escape damage. The smashed building leaves behind debris that the player can use against Iblis. After much of Iblis's Health Gauge is depleted, the monster resorts to breathing fire on the platform. The sweeping fire attack cannot be deflected in any way, so head for the sides of the platform to avoid getting burned to a crisp. After that, the player must keep hurling debris at the titanic Iblis to bring it down.
