In Gold and Silver, Red's team consists of Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise.
A ground-type should be used for Pikachu so that Thunderbolt and Thunder cannot work on it.
Ghost or Dark-types should be used for Espeon and a Fighting-type should be used for Snorllax.
A Fire-type, Ice-type or Flying-type could be used for Venusaur and Electric-types should be used for Charizard and Blastoise.
Lapras is a pretty bulky Pokemon. I suggest using high level Fighting Pokemon although the Lapras does have Psychic, it shouldn't do that much. I used a Hitmonchan.

when you defeat the kanto elite four your mom tells you to go to professer elms lab then he tells you to go to professer oaks lab in pallet town then prof. oak tells you go to mt. silver which is located in the indigo plaute go forward then to your left you see a field a house and a pokemon center first go to the house she will give you a tm flame thrower then go to the pokemon center and heal your pokemon then u see a cave go in it then you start climing at the top of mt. silver go forward then you see a trainer talk to him then u start a battle i suggest that u buy a lot of max revives cuz red is really tough then once you defeat him he disappears but a lot of people think that red is ash and the correct answer is... yes ash is disgused as red for some odd reason that very few people know about but.. i know why ash disgused himself but... i am keeping it a secret sry but i cant tell u my secret i found out so ur gonna have to find it on ur own hope this helps u guys cyndaquil831 is out

He has a Pikachu, Venasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Lapras, and a Snorlax all above Lv. 75. Good Luck defeating him!
You don't. Red is a CPU trainer that never talks so it's impossible.

1939 (4 games to 0) and 1961 (4 games to 1).
To successfully defeat Red you will need level 65 or higher Pokemon, preferably you will need a psychic (for venusaur) an electric (for blastoise and lapras) a fighting (for snorlax) and a water (for charizard) Pokemon, for these i used alakazam (who doubled as my electric by knowing charge beam) a lucario and a blastoise. to take out reds pikachu i recommend a high special attack move, like psychic, it will likely one hit kill him, then it should be relatively smooth sailing, also don't forget lots of full restores and revives, they aren't an absolute necessity but they might help out a bit- hope you found this helpful =D
You cannot get Red's number. Red can only be found upon defeating the elite 4 twice (after they have harder Pokemon). He will disappear once you defeat him. To make him reappear on Mt. Silver, you must defeat the elite 4 once again.
