To get the weapons, you have to scan these things during the game. But that's not the only way. You also have to play Battle for Earth to get some more, but you have to be at your house to do it. (And just so you know, you have to go to the medical bay to use them and there is an arrow by the weapons on the top that shows you more guns.)
