You can catch one of the Legendary Birds in this game, but only one. What bird you will face depends on what Pokémon you chose as your starter. If you chose Chespin you will have the chance to catch Articuno, if you picked Fennekin then Zapdos will be available, and with Froakie you can battle Moltres.
The method of capture is complicated. After entering the Hall of Fame for the first time one of these birds will start roaming Kalos and you will have to find it a total of 11 times (the first one is authomatic, your first random encounter after you beat the Champion). It will not even give you the chance to throw a ball at him or send a Pokémon during these encounters, it will flee on sight. After you meet the bird all of these 11 times it will finally set a permanent location at the Sea Spirit's Den you can go there to finally try to capture it.
In the end all of this marathon will only give you one of the birds, if you want the other two as well you will have to trade Pokémon with another game.

You complete your pokedex and then they spread out around the map, as the prof. tells u this.
Zaptos is impossible to catch and I actually killed Moltrais but I spent an hour to catch Articuno, as when u get close they sometimes move...

∙ 8y agoAfter completing the Sinnoh Dex, go to Prof. Rowan's house and obtain the National Dex. Then go to Eterna City and go into the house DIRECTLY left of the gym. That will be Proffeser Oak's house. Talk to him, and you will be able to catch the 3 legendary birds on the tracking map Poketech app.
