How do you get past the invisible barrier in the ecruteak gym on Pokemon silver?

You have to go around. Go back to the begining and stay along the right hand wall. This will take you all the way to the back, then work your way to the middle of the back an then down . So is somewhere in the middle of the gym, cant remember exactly which trainer, but definatly in the middle.
