How do you get the lottery ticket in Pokemon ruby?

Talk to the girl nearest the stairs on the ground floor of the Lilycove City department store. You have a better chance of winning if you are holding other traded Pokemon as well as one of your own. The number of the lottery ticket has to match the Pokemon's ID numbers (which can be found in your Pokemon's summary and profile). If you win, the girl will give you an item that you can sell or use (like elixer or something similar).

I can't remember whether ruby had the contest houses or the battle houses.

If they have the battle house, you cannot get a contest ticket.

If they do, go into the on in verdanturf and talk to the left lady at the counter. She will if you want to enter a contest, then realize you don't have a ticket so she will give you one.

Have a Pokemon that has an ID number that matches all 6 digits of the lottery number that week. In emerald, you can save in front of the lady, then turn off the game and try again.
