How do you get the shovel sonic adventure 2 battle?

Enter the Chao Races and select Beginner Race and then choose your best chao that can swim really well (look at level and stat#) after selecting the race choose level 3 of Crab Pool (if you cannot you must enter levels 1 and 2 to acquire 3). After winning level 3 you will receive a Shovel which your chao will automatically keep and what it does is let your chao plant a tree seed in the garden BUT in order for the tree to grow you must also win the watering pail which you can get from the level 3 Stump Valley race which you need a good chao that can fly really well.

That's easy! Go into chao cave, enter in the race compititions, select begginner's race and go to the crab pool. Win it and beat your score that you've done before and you'll get the Shovel!
