How do you get to the 4 gym in soul silver?

After defeating Whitney at the Goldenrod Gym, head north through Route 35, until you get to another gate.

You can either cut the tree in the grass, or go through the gate.

The gate has 2 entrances: 1 leads to the famous Pokathlon Dome, and 2nd leads to the National Park. Go through the National Park

If you cut the tree, you will be on Route 36.

If you go to the National Park, take the gate facing east.

either route would put you on route 36, when you come across the ODD TREE, use the squirtbottle on it , and you will find out that it is a Sudowoodo. EIther catch or defeat it, then start heading North to Ecruteak City, which houses the 4th Gym.
