you first should start from your house and you go up to verity lake front you will see dawn and prof. rowan you then wait and dawn and prof. rowan are about to leave and then dawn sais something to you and she'll leave. you go to the case with your rival and you see prof.rowan has forgotten it. you going to get ambushed by some starlys and you choose your Pokemon(your rival will always choose your weakness) I would recomend empoleon because grass and fire are ok against him. you then battle your rival and you try to beat him with eather tackle, scratch, or pound you then proceed to oreburgh gate and get past it and then you are in oreburgh and you find the gym.
P.S. the gym leader roark is a user of rock type Pokemon if you have a chimchar he should be at a high level and he will have learned a fighting move use the fighting move. if you have turtwig or piplup the same thing applies use grass or water type moves. good luck!
