In order to link trade Pokemon, the player must have both a game and console capable of link trading; the Nintendo DS console is not suitable for this purpose. A trade cable must link the consoles involved in the trade, and then the player must simply speak to a trade NPC to initiate the trade. These NPCs usually are found in Pokemon Centers.
