If you want a more realistic outfit, take a look at mens fashion during the Victorian Era. Period costume would be more than appropriate. Especially things made during the late 1880's, when most of the stories are set. Watch a little Jeremy Brett for an example.
Otherwise, if you're just looking for an Inverness Cape and a Deerstalker hat set-up, you can find an example of the latter in any Party City and there's probably a pattern online or in a book for the cloak. Classic Basil Rathbone/William Gillette look.
If you're going for something like the movie, watch the film and you can easily find the parts somewhere to complete it, I'm sure. Robert Downey Junior, he's the man to watch. More accurate than Rathbone but less so than Brett.
Or how about a more modern take? Benedict Cumberbatch portrays the detective in the BBC mini-series Sherlock. Despite his preference for designer suits, I'm sure some cheap imitations aren't that hard to create.
Take a look around and I'm sure you can easily find something both you and they will love.
No. Holmes never actually made a profession of boxing, though he did enjoy doing it.
Sherlock Homes was a man. And, just make sure you know that Sherlock Holmes was not real life detective, only a well thought of character in a book. Any Human on Planet Earth could very well become as clever and mischievous as Sherlock Holmes, if only they would learn to use their full brain capacity....lol, which I'm sure is not possible for the human race.
i think there are 24, but im not too sure because i found what looks to be an online version of the book, however im not sure if it is complete. try the link below as this is the site i found, hopefully it helps!! Volume one consists of four letters that serve as an introduction, and eight chapters. Volume two consists of nine chapters and volume three consists of seven. So the book is made up of an introduction and twenty-four chapters.
In 1893 After seeing the magnificent Reichenbach Falls in the northern Swiss Alps Conan Doyle decided the place would make a worthy tomb for Sherlock Holmes. The Final Problem was published in Dec 1893 in The Strand magazine. People were so upset that many thousands cancelled their subscription to the magazine. In 1901-02 Sherlock Holmes reappeared in the novel 'The Hound of the Baskervilles.' However its clear that Holmes was not alive. This story took place before the incident at Reichenbach Falls. The short story The Adventure of the Empty House in the book "The Return of Sherlock Holmes" published in Oct 1903 saw the re-appearance of Sherlock Holmes and the description of how he had disappeared.
In the books and most movies, Prof. Moriarty (his arch nemesis) and Holmes fall off the Reichenbach Falls. Sherlock survives, but Moriarty dies. The only reason Conan Doyle killed him off was because he grew tired of the character and the series, and it was distracting him from other projects. He brought back Sherlock Holmes because fans of Holmes got angry and forced Conan Doyle to bring him back. In the BBC modern-day adaptation of Sherlock, Moriarty tells Sherlock that he will kill Sherlock's friends is Sherlock does not kill himself. This exchange occurs on top of St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Moriarty shoots himself in the head, and then Sherlock jumps to his apparent death. At the very end of the episode, it is shown that Sherlock is still alive.
The dishes that Holmes and Watson use in their study in the Granada series are Manson's Mandalay/ Blue Pattern
Estimated cost to make Sherlock Holmes (2009): $90 Million Estimated cost to make Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows (2011): $125 Million
This is because the author, wanted to make Sherlock Holmes sound realistic enough for people to not think that he was fictional.

yes, it is coming out on the 15th December in the UK.
I think he could do a very good job. Carey is a good actor and could easily portray Sherlock Holmes. I think his physical attributes would work well as the Holmes character.
This is subjective as it depends on personal preference. Sherlock Holmes is known for his deductive reasoning and logic, while Hercule Poirot is known for his methodical approach and attention to detail. Both have their own unique qualities that make them great detectives.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes.

You can do it different ways:Sherlock Holmes' friend.Sherlock Holmes's friend. As we often pronounce it as a double s, the second form is more natural in this instance and so would be the preferred form.
