You can not trade between a GBa game and a DS game. IF you want to give some of your PokeMon from a GBA game you have to beat the Elite Four. Then, restart the ds, with the GBA and DS game in the designated slots. Then, play the PokeMon DS game, on the screen where you pick if you want a new game, or to play the existing file. There should be a option Migrate. Click that. Then you will have to do more stuff. Search how to Migrate for more help.
