How do you win the bug catching contest in SoulSilver?

You can enter the bug catching contest on tuesdays, thusdays, and saturdays.

If you win first place you get a sun stone. You can use this to make gloom evolve into bellossom. Otherwise you would end getting an everstone if you win 2nd or 3rd place. If you loose you just get a berry and get to keep the bug you caught ^-*

Well actually its located in the building at National Park. there are 2 doors and a counter with 2 people behind it. talk to the guy closest to the right door but u can only talk to him on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays.

Generally by Pokemon size, level and remaining health. So you can have a high level Scyther or Heracross, but if you had to knock their health way down it will hurt your score. Best bet is to try and catch them without having to hurt them. Putting them to sleep or paralyzing them will help.

You don't have to catch 'a number of bug Pokemon', you only have to catch one.
