She starts screaming and crying for him to let her go, and he can't watch so he turns away. When he looks back, he sees that the ropes were cut and Annabeth was nowhere to be seen. He jumps into the water and catches up to her before she can be lead to her death. When he pulls her under the water, she stops fighting her. Sound doesn't travel underwater so, he made an air bubble and got Annabeth inside it. They get back on the boat and pass the Sirens.
