A large part is the work place and the amount of money earned. Men earn more than women in every state, including D.C. Studies done by people, one is Joseph Berger show that men are viewed in society as more socially competent and valuable. Also you can it in getting jobs, men are hired more for engineering and mechanical type jobs than women, due to stereotypes. Sexism can also be seen in the little comments people make and the idea that "women belong in the kitchen". Sexism warps perspective and makes people see things in a different light, not a positive one.
