Well, before he wasn't very adventurous and didn't want to get out of his home. But now, after his adventure on receiving gold, he felt very proud of himself and successful that he made it to the gold. And he actually gets to keep a share of it.
Thirteen dwarves and a wizard.
Perhaps the question would be "who does Bilbo accompany on a trip." Bilbo travels with Gandalf the wizard and thirteen dwarves: Thorin Oakenshield (their leader), Dwalin, Balin, Gloin, Oin, Dori, Ori, Nori, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Fili, and Kili. This not including ponies.
He walks by his home one morning. Bilbo was out sitting and reading his letters and smoking a pipe. Gandalf introduced himself and they had a chat. Bilbo was very uncomfortable and scurried off, but invited the wizard to tea.
Gandalf intervened for Bilbo when he found himself in Thorin Oakenshield's angry clutches. The wizard stepped in to defend Bilbo after Thorin accused him of being a traitor for his dealings with the elves and men. Gandalf's intervention helped to calm the situation and ultimately allowed Bilbo to prove his worth to the company.
Gandalf possesses a deep understanding of the nature of individuals and their potential, often drawing on his wisdom and experience as a powerful wizard. He can see qualities in Bilbo—such as courage and resourcefulness—that Bilbo himself may not recognize. Additionally, Gandalf's knowledge of the larger world and its history allows him to perceive how Bilbo's actions and choices could have significant consequences, even if Bilbo is unaware of them. This insight enables Gandalf to guide Bilbo on his journey of self-discovery.
Yes, the wizard(Gandalf) likes Bilbo very much. It is by the will of Gandalf that Bilbo comes along with the dwarves for the quest. His concern for Bilbo can be seen when all the dwarves come out from goblin's cave but Bilbo remains behind. Gandalf continues to visit Bilbo even after the end of dwarves quest.

In the book "The Hobbit" by Tolkien, Bilbo doesn't find the dwarfs, the dwarfs find him! (With the help of the wizard) It is a wonderful book and I strongly recommend reading it!
