How is Annabeth intelligent in Lightning Thief?

Percy Jackson is a demigod, which means he has ADHD and is dyslexic. These things make it hard for Percy in mortal school, but they are battle reflexes, so he does well in his training and quests at Camp Half-Blood.

He particularly excels in sword fighting, and as a son of Poseidon he is able to bend water to his will, but it drains him to an extent so he must be careful with this.

Overall, yes, he is fairly intelligent, but is sometimes oblivious to the things around him. My personal opinion is that this is why he is paired with Annabeth Chase, an extremely intelligent child of Athena.
