How many X-men movies are there and what are they called?

There are three movies based on the X-Men comic book: X-Men (2000), X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). The first two were directed by Bryan Singer. Brett Ratner directed the third installment.

They have also created X-men Origins: Wolverine which tells the story of Wolverine's past and how he got his adamantium claws. It is directed by Gavin Hood.
