How many grass types are there in FireRed or LeafGreen and which is the best?

There are a fair amount of grass types in fire red but i would recommend butterfree or scyther. get a metapod from viridian forest (it only evolves at level 8) i believe. scyther is in the safari zone.

Legendary grass pokemon. Other than that, Vileplume is pretty good once it is evolved with the leaf stone. Just remember that you should teach your Gloom all of the moves it can learn before you evolve it because once it's a Vileplume, you're screwed since Vileplum can't learn all of the good moves that Gloom could learn unless you have the TMs to replace it. Hope this helps! There are no legendary Grass Pokemon in LeafGreen, or in FireRed. Your best bet with Grass types are Victreebel, Parasect, Exeggutor, and post-Elite 4/National Dex, Jumpluff. Attack wise, go for Victreebel. Speed wise, go for Jumpluff. Defense wise, go for Exeggutor. Special Attack & Special Defense wise, Parasect. If you haven't beaten the Elite 4 and your rival yet then you can substitute Jumpluff for Parasect as it also has decent Speed. Also, Oddish is only available in FireRed, not LeafGreen.
