That is a lot the captain wasnt supposed to abandon his ship unless every one was off, and if people were still on when it went down, i guess that means he was supposed to die too. In 1912 when Titanic occored captain smith went down with his ship, and was never found. But if you think about it the man was trying to save his life, but he should have waited, i mean come on! he abandoned them on the FIRST LIFEBOAT! thats just wrong... in my OPPINION.

The Titanic went down completely in the mile deep waters of the north Atlantic and the Costa Concordia is currently stable with much of its structure above the water line. Not to make light of the horrendous situation off the coast of Italy, but over a thousand souls perished in the Titanic sinking, and there will be no more than 32 deaths (the 15 already confirmed dead, and the remaining 17 missing, assuming that they will be found dead or will never be recovered) resulting from the grounding of the Costa Concordia. On the other hand, when the Titanic was built it was not required by the laws and standards of the day to have equipment on board to assure the safety of all passengers, and this is one reason why so many were lost. There seems to be no excuse whatever for the loss of anyone on board the Costa Concordia, which was properly equipped to safely evacuate every living person.
