About 20 people died, and alot are missing. It started out with 4.200 people on board. That is a lot the captain wasnt supposed to abandon his ship unless every one was off, and if people were still on when it went down, i guess that means he was supposed to die too. In 1912 when Titanic occored captain smith went down with his ship, and was never found. But if you think about it the man was trying to save his life, but he should have waited, i mean come on! he abandoned them on the FIRST LIFEBOAT! thats just wrong... in my OPPINION.
p.S. yes this information is VERY accurate. I only use facts and if i use opinions, ill let you know if it is one

The Costa Concordia was equipped with 23 lifeboats, which could accommodate approximately 3,500 people. However, during the disaster in January 2012, many of these lifeboats were not used effectively due to the ship's listing and the ensuing chaos. The tragedy highlighted deficiencies in safety protocols and emergency preparedness.
The Costa Concordia had a total of 23 lifeboats on board. However, this number was insufficient to accommodate all passengers and crew during the evacuation. The ship was designed to carry over 4,200 people, yet the lifeboats had a capacity for only about 3,600 individuals. This became a critical issue during the tragic capsizing incident in January 2012.
Carnival Corporation has never had a direct accident. The only notable accident is in terms of the Costa Concordia accident.
The Costa Concordia had been in service for about 10 years before its tragic accident on January 13, 2012. It was launched in 2004 and operated various Mediterranean cruises during that period. The ship was known for its size and luxurious amenities, attracting many vacationers until it ran aground off the coast of Italy.

There are no longer any living *survivors of the Titanic. There are some similarities between the two disasters, but many differences as well. The Titanic was an ocean liner and the Costa Concordia is not; it is a cruise ship. Cruise ships are not designed to withstand the rigors of a transoceanic voyage, as are ocean liners. The Titanic went down completely in the mile deep waters of the north Atlantic and the Costa Concordia is currently stable with much of its structure above the water line. Not to make light of the horrendous situation off the coast of Italy, but over a thousand souls perished in the Titanic sinking, and there will be no more than 32 deaths (the 15 already confirmed dead, and the remaining 17 missing, assuming that they will be found dead or will never be recovered) resulting from the grounding of the Costa Concordia. On the other hand, when the Titanic was built it was not required by the laws and standards of the day to have equipment on board to assure the safety of all passengers, and this is one reason why so many were lost. There seems to be no excuse whatever for the loss of anyone on board the Costa Concordia, which was properly equipped to safely evacuate every living person. It does appear, though, that human error is a very significant factor in both disasters.*The last living survivor, Millvina Dean, died in 2009 at the age of 97. She was about 2 months old when the Titanic sank in 1912.
