It depends on what you see as the challenge in the games. If you think that the challenge is staying healed up and leveling a set of Pokemon up to beat the elite four, then yes, perhaps they are too easy. However, if you think that the challenge is collecting all of the Pokemon and completing your Pokedex, catching all the legendaries, or breeding the best pokemon, collecting shinies, or making great trades, then it is still challenging. However, if you want a bigger challenge, lots of people play the "Nuzlocke" challenge rules, which are basically: 1. If your Pokemon faints, it is dead and you have to release it. 2. Nickname all of your Pokemon (creating a stronger emotional bond) 3. You can only catch the first Pokemon that you encounter in a new area. If you make it faint instead, no pokemon for you from that area. 4. If all of your Pokemon faint, game over. You have to restart. 5. You can only fight with Pokemon that you have caught and raised yourself, not with traded Pokemon. ... people play with many variations of these rules for a bigger challenge. See the related link for a list of some of the variations.
