It of course depends upon the card but for most discontinued CCG's (Collectable Card Games) the value of cards are only realized when in full sets (one of every card in an expansion or standard set) or playsets (the maximum or standard amount of a particular card you can use in a particular deck or game)
A misprint may be worth a great deal of money as they are unique or semi-unique. There may be a small number of the same type of misprint from the same sheet of cards meaning about 42, but out of thousands of cards, that is a small number. Many misprints however are so far gone from what would contribute to their value due to the nature of it being "broken" that except in specific circumstances they would be worth little.
The cards that would have exceptional value would be unique cards, very very difficult or previously expensive cards with a flaw that makes it clear that the card is different than the "normal" card but does not destroy the cosmetic or aesthetic appeal of the card (Perhaps the shading on the portrait of Picard is very very dark), and misprints in which a card may be combined with another to create a new card that is actually not in the set or simply switches the artwork or abilities with another card so that the nature of the misprint is immediately clear to a collector (Data's face is on a card for the Enterprise-D or a Romulan Warbird).
