Jay Leno made his debut as the host of The Tonight Show on May 25, 1992. He served in that role until May 29, 2009, when he was briefly succeeded by Conan O'Brien. That did not work out, and Leno returned as Tonight Show host on March 1, 2010. Despite having top ratings amongst all other late-night talk shows, NBC has announced that Jay Leno will be replaced by jimmy fallon in 2014. Leno's final show as host will be on February 6, 2014. Thus in total, Leno has been the host for about 21 years.
