How old should your child be to read Harry Potter?

I started in 2nd grade but as you get farther in the series you should read ahead.

i thinkk about 25 or over

because i read it when i was 18

and i am stilll having nightmares today. and i am 40

I first read it in 4th grade- but its good for all ages. The series starts off light hearted but Order of the Phoenix and onward is a little tiny bit more mature. Like 5th or 6th grade.
