∙ 14y agoAt age 17, Jim Carrey began doing stand up at open mike nights around Toronto, which became regular paid shows. At one of these he was seen by Rodney Dangerfield who had him open for some local appearances. Dangerfield took him to Las Vegas, and at 19, he moved to Hollywood. His first film roles were low budget 1983 films Copper Mountain and Rubberface. He would have been 21 that year.
