1.)go to eterna city
2.)enter the Eterna Condominiums
3.)on the first floor talk to the old man he is the name rater
4.)pick a Pokemon who's name you want him to rate
5.)If he likes the name you cant change it but if he says it is decent you can change it
6.)the nickname screen will come up so you can change the name
Then no matter what he'll say that's much better and your done. Your Welcome!!!
This is the same for Pokemon Diamond and Platinum too!!!
All above is wrong. You cannot change a traded pokemons name without making a baby.

∙ 12y agoYes you can. There is a nickname rater somewhere in the game. Talk to him and he will rate the name of a Pokemon, then he will ask you if you want to change its name. However if change the name of a Pokemon and it evolves it will keep that nickname. Also you cannot change the nickname of a traded Pokemon because its name carries its former trainers wishes.
