How powerful is shao kahn?

Power wise, shao Kahn has the power to merge realms, steal many souls at once, and has powerful magic. It varies from game to game though. In mk3, shao Kahn could steal all of earth's souls with ease, but in mk9, he could absorb them,but it can only be assumed he steals them because he is only shown stealing Shang tsung's soul. He can, however, burn humans to a crisp, and fire pure energy from his hands. He can destroy people with his mind in the mk comics. In most games, he is hard to beat, often having more life and damage. He can rip opponents in half or easily destroy them with his wrath hammer. It is unknown if he is weakened for the tournament, because even though he Is the immortal enemy of the realms and is very powerful, liu kang, a shaolin mortal, has beaten him a few times.
