EPCOT stood for (and still stands for): Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Walt Disney was fascinated with the idea of technology of innovation, so his dream was to build an actually city, government and all, in Orlando, Florida. It would have all the newest technology, including the monorail (which is now used all over Walt Disney World). Walt especially loved this idea because it would "never be completed," in his words. He came up with this idea near the end of his life, because he looked at his children and grandchildren and wondered what kind of a city they would live in. Dissatisfied with the way cities were in that time, he wanted to make a clean, efficient city. This was the inspiration for EPCOT. Although it turned out to be an amusement park and not a city, a lot of his ideas still came showed up in the park, which was opened in 1982, well after Walt Disney's death.
Spaceship Earth at Epcot is 180 feet tall. A golf ball is 1.68 inches tall. A 6 foot tall golfer is about 42 times taller than the golf ball. Therefore, to use Spaceship Earth as a golf ball you need to be around 7,714 feet tall, or just under 1.5 miles tall. An average drive for a golfer that size would be nearly 150 miles.
I went to both Disney parks and Disny World Florida is WAY bigger though Disney Land is the origanal. ITS WALT DISNEY WORLD IN FLORIDA AND DISNEY LAND IN CALIFORNIA I HAVE BEEN TO BOTH TO AND IT ONLY TOOK ME A DAY AND A HALF TO DO EVERYTHIND AT DISNEY LAND AND ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF TO DO EVERYTHING AT WALT DISNEY WORLD Disneyland has two parks - Disneyland (original) and California Adventure -- and a decent size shopping area -- Downtown Disney. I did most of the big stuff in both parks in one day in California back in July -- but I had no children with me. Disney World in Florida has four theme parks, two water parks and a huge shopping area. The Magic Kingdom is larger than Disneyland in California. EPCOT has two areas -- Future World and the World Showcase. The World Showcase has a lagoon in it which could hold the Magic Kingdom. The Studios is the smallest park. Animal Kingdom is bigger than EPCOT. My whole family went in June to Florida -- set up 10 today days with a 7 day Park Ticket and we were shortchanged on time for the Studios, only did 1/2 day at Animal Kingdom, and did everything we wanted to do at least twice at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Had a spa day and a shopping day -- and just had a blast.Disney WORLD is in Florida, Disney LAND is in California
