I don't know which game you're talking about, but these are all of the most recent games in the past 15 years.
Firered/Leafgreen: Walk to Misty, battle two trainers.
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: Battling trainers give you more light. You'll eventually find Brawly.
Pearl/Diamond: Battle all of the trainers in the room, then Gardenia will appear.
Platinum: Battle each of the four trainers, and the Floral Clock will eventually turn to Gardenia.

∙ 14y agoYou go to the top of mt. coronet and battle team galactic and when you're done and you beat them you battle dialga. catch it and go to sunyshore city. p.s. on your way up it will look like your in snowpoint city but your not so keep going up.

∙ 13y agoWhen you go in the scientist will show you around. Then go into the door he stops at and talk to the dude on the right. He will give you a fresh water. Face the guy and walk to the bookshelf on the bottom right. When it asks Do you want to read it? Say yes. It will ask a question. Go to the bookshelf right above it. It will ask ANOTHER question. Go to the bookshelf right above THAT one. It will ask a question. Go to the bookshelf at the BOTTOM left. It will say something about moving. Just go to the bookshelf right above it. I am not sure but you might have to battle the scientist and girl. then they will move. For the last one. the bookshelf will move let and you will find the Gym Leader. And you are done!
