Depending on what you do first, the 6th gym leader in gold can be either Jasmine (in Olivine City) or the guy in Cianwood City (don't remember his name). To beat Jasmine (who I think is number 6) you have to go to the lighthouse in olivine city. It is far to the right, a large building. Here are a lot of trainers, but at the top room in the lighthouse you will find Jasmine. Talk to her, leave the lighthouse and suft to Cianwood City (look on the map if it helps). Here you can beat the gym leader where you need strength (which you get in olivine city in the house beside the pokecenter, talk to the guy with blue hat). Afterwords, talk to the lady outside to get Fly and teach it to a pokemon. Before leaving Cianwood, enter the house southest in the city. Talk to the guy and he will give you the secretpotion. Now you can fly back to Olivine City (to fly, click on pokemon in menu and click on the pokemon that knows fly and choose fly and the city where you want to fly). In olivine city, talk to Jasmine again and she will go back to the gym, which is above the pokecenter.

The Gym Leader, Jasmine, is first found at the top of the lighthouse in Olivine. The Ampharos is sick so you have to get medicine from the pharmacy in Cianwood, which is a short surf west of Olivine City. You might as well fight the gym there, get the medicine from one of the buildings (there should be a sign out front that tells you its the pharmacy) go back (you get fly here, I believe, so you can use that) to the Lighthouse, find Jasmine again at the top, and talk to her. She will return to the gym, and you can fight her.
