If you are talking about the Courtyard Colosseum battles, there's seven in total. If you mean how many Colosseums you have to beat in order to unlock Courtyard Colosseum, there's eight colosseums before it.

If you're using you rental battle pass while in the courtyard collosium, it is not likey you will get too far. If you have Pokemon Platinum, Diamond or Pearl, and possibley Heart gold and Soul Silver, you can transfer your Pokemon into Battle Revolution and make your own Coustom Pass. Use your best Pokemon team because this goes on forever so basically it is survival mode, (I think...). (Also, when transfering your pokemon, you will see every pokemon you have in your PC and team. Transfering your pokemon will not take them from your game but merely copy them...) Good Luck!
