My guess is that Holmes recognised John Clay from the description provided by Jabez Wilson of the white splash of acid on his forehead, and he was anxious to find him. After all, Holmes did say he had "one or two little turns" with Clay in the past.
Jabez Wilson, the client, is asked by a mysterious figure to copy out the encyclopedia britannica; Holmes finds it to be a front for bank robbery.

Most likely, considering he's never been married and in those days usually that meant no sex, and even if sex did take place outside of marriage Sherlock Holmes never gave the impression he was the sort of guy that went around sleeping with women.
In 'The Musgrave Ritual,' Holmes says, "When I first came up to London I had rooms in Montague Street," and in 'The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter,' Holmes said, "My ancestors were country squires." It seems, from these statements, very likely that Holmes came from one of the provinces of England outside of London.
Ah, The Adventure of the Gloria Scott (GLOR), Sherlock Holmes' first-ever case, his third being The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual (MUSG). When Holmes dropped out of college after only two years and lived in a flat in Montague street, his first cases were those brought to him by former fellow-students who knew of his powers of logic and deduction. Eventually, he started to gain a little reputation outside of school and was able to be involved in cases the police consulted him on. Thus, he became the world's only Consulting Detective.
Lord Blackwood had a clip on his noose that shifted the weight to his waist and took a mixture of ancient herbs to give himself the appearance of being dead. The herbs momentarily stop one's pulse from being felt. The limestone outside of Lord Blackwood's grave wasn't shattered by supernatural force. Instead, it was shattered beforehand, and glued together by the honeycomb substance Holmes and Watson saw while going through the redheaded dwarf's quarters.
River Phoenix was killed by a speedball, a mix of heroin and speed. He was on other assortments of drugs but supposedly a speedball given to him by John Frusciante is what put him over the edge. Ehh, red-headed guys aren't AS attractive but it really depends. Personallity is what really matters but sadly we all really care more about what people look like on the outside then who they are on the inside. No offence but like I said, their not as attractive but, you can definantly find someone who likes you!

Because there is usually more "give" on a treadmill, they are usually easier on your knees than running outside. However, if you are running outside on a very soft surface such as sand, that surface could actually be easier on your knees than running on a treadmill. Typically, though, if you run on pavement or hard dirt surfaces, you knees would be better off if you used a treadmill.
