In Stargate Atlantis season 4 episode 11 - Be All My Sins Remembered...
An earth 304 battle cruiser equipped with Asgard shields was shown to be hit by least 17 ancient drones in a row from a Pegasus Galaxy Replicator copied Ancient warship with apparently 0 damage taken. (right before the 304 fired two Asgard Plasma Beam Weapon beams and destroyed that Replicator ship).
Keep in mind that the Asgard shields on 304s are underpowered due to they are powered by inferior naquada generators (which technology was supplied by a less advanced planet than Goa'uld) instead of powered by Asgard's own power sources. (The Asgard uses 4 ion generators on each ship which was far superior technology than Goa'uld's naquada generators). The Asgard O'Neill Class ships definately have superior shields than 304s even if we just consider the single fact of power generators. The Asgard ships as whole are far superior to 304s. Remember that Goa'uld in Stargate SG-1 commented on how terrible the earth ship was designed, while the Goa'uld have feared Asgard technological superiority for thousands of years.
So with the facts from above, we can safely assume Asgard shields on an Asgard ship can take many hits from ancient drone weapons before it's weakened.
Many countries throughout history have used shields in combat, including ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt, where warriors employed various types of shields for protection. In medieval Europe, knights and foot soldiers utilized shields made from wood or metal, often adorned with coats of arms. Additionally, indigenous cultures, such as those in Africa, the Americas, and the Pacific Islands, also employed shields in their warfare, often reflecting their unique styles and materials. Overall, the use of shields has been a common practice across diverse cultures globally.
Auxiliary shields, commonly used in ancient military contexts, were typically made from materials such as wood, leather, or metal. The wooden shields were often covered with leather for added durability and protection. Some shields featured metal components or reinforcements, particularly around the edges or in the form of boss (a central protrusion) for better impact resistance. The choice of materials varied based on the period, region, and specific military needs.
