Manuel Noriega, the former military dictator of Panama, was released from prison in January 2017 after serving time for drug trafficking and other charges. He had been incarcerated in the United States and then later in France, before returning to Panama. Noriega died on May 29, 2017, due to complications from surgery, so he is no longer alive and therefore not in prison.
