The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) was founded in 1943. It helped finance Disneyland in 1953, which allowed the network first bidding rights to the Disney show "Disneyland." Thus, although the two companies were separate, there was close cooperation between the two.
In 1996, the Walt Disney Company bought ABC outright, and continues to own it to this day.
