it is ok if you are looking to battle and catch wild pokemon as it is not powerful, but if you are talking gym battles and such i would suggest (if you are looking for a bird type pokemon) evolving a pidgey, which is not too hard as it evolves at level 18 into pidgeotto, and then again at level 36 into pidgeot. much better than a farfetch'd.
