was most known for playing sgt frank carter on the show gomer pyle usmc he also did many guest roles before and after the show shows included combat Jim neighbors variety show co starred in a few films his last being the forgettable hurricane in 1974 sutton was a black belt in judo and did alot of his own stunts it was a shock because he seemed in decent shape shortly after filming hurricane he was struck with a heart attack that killed him he was only 50 yrs old it was also reported in 1974 that sutton drank gallons of coffee and chained smoked cigars that could of had somthing to do with it he was performing at dinner theater at the time the attack occured collapsing on stage
